With less than two months to Kate’s 35th birthday, Kate Winslet Fan has now launched a way for you to express your admiration for your favorite actress. You may submit simple birthday wishes, links to a video inspired by Kate, poems, drawings or whatever you want.

To pay tribute to the wonderful Kate Winslet and to celebrate her 35th birthday and the success of 2009 films Revolutionary Road and The Reader and the upcoming The Catch, Contagion and, of course, the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce, Kate Winslet Fan decided to launch a Birthday Page in honor of one of the best actresses of her generation.

While I strongly believe that the break-up between Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes is none of our business, I thought I’d post this report from People to hopefully help put some of those crazy rumors circling around the internet to rest. This will be the last time I will post about Kate and Sam’s break-up, unless there will be official statements made by Kate or Sam themselves. Kate and Sam specifically requested privacy in their statement and I believe as fans we should honor that request. And besides, the purpose of this site is to post updates regarding Kate’s career and not her personal life.

So far, there’s no finger-pointing or fiery accusations marking the end of the nearly seven-year marriage between Kate Winslet and director Sam Mendes: In fact, a source tells People the couple “just grew apart.”

Winslet stuck with the relationship for a while for the children, but Mendes’s tendency to be a workaholic is one of the reasons the couple split, says the source. They separated in January, but decided to keep it quiet until after the Oscars.

I am saddened to report today that, according to multiple sources, Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes’ representatives have confirmed that their nearly seven-year marriage is coming to an end. Here’s the statement from their lawyer, courtesy of Reuters:

“Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year,” Keith Schilling of law firm Schillings said in a brief statement.

“The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully to committed to the future joint parenting of their children. They ask that the media respect the privacy of the family,” he added.

Kate and Sam were married in 2003. They have a son, Joe, 6. Kate, of course, also has a daughter, Mia, 9, from her first marriage to Jim Threapleton. The pair made one movie together, Revolutionary Road (2008), in which Sam directed Kate in her brilliant portrayal of April Wheeler.

I am truly shocked on the eve of these reports; they seemed like such a happy couple. All I can say is that I wish all the best to Kate and Sam and hope that they are both coping well during what must be a very difficult time in their lives.

Padma Lakshmi’s pregnancy threw a wrench into Top Chef season seven plans. “We were supposed to shoot in January, but we pushed it to April 5 because of her baby,” Tom Colicchio said last night at the Bravo upfront party.

But perhaps their pregnant pause was for the best — especially since it gives Kate Winslet ample time to find time in her schedule to appear on the show! “I met Kate Winslet at a party the other night, and she said, ‘I want to come on the show,’” Tom told PopWrap. “So I said, ‘Kate, you’ve got an Oscar in your hands, you can do whatever you want!’”

Should the Emmy nominated show — which is headed to a brand new city for its seventh season — snag Kate, it will be the first Oscar winner, and arguably the most famous face, to belly up to Judges Table.

But Ms. Winslet has big shoes to fill, the last time Hollywood broke break with Top Chef, Natalie Portman delivered one of the most memorable meals in show history! “I was shocked at what actually made it on the air,” Tom said of the double entendre-tastic outing.

Kate Winslet is one of my dearest friends. We have the ultimate trust in each other and the best of intentions for what we want to do. I knew Kate before Sam [Mendes, her husband] even met her. So on the outside, it may seem strange to do a sex scene with a woman while her husband is directing. But it didn’t feel that way to me.

When the scene was about to start, Kate said, in front of the crew, “Wait, wait, this is totally weird.” She turned to both Sam and I and said, “Are you guys okay?”

We both looked at each other and said, Yeah, we’re totally fine.

She said, “It’s even weirder that you’re both totally fine.”
