Kate Winslet took time away from the set of Mildred Pierce to pose for a photo with a young fan called Madison. Just how adorable is the photo (via On Location Vacations)?

In other MP related news, the series is filming at Glen Cove’s stunning 1917 Woolworth mansion for several days, starting May 7. Winfield Hall, as the house also is known, was built for businessman F. W. Woolworth. It is owned by Martin Carey, brother of former Gov. Hugh Carey. More information available at Newsday. What a gorgeous estate! I bet it’ll look stunning in the series!

Squee! Please excuse the fangirliness for a minute but I’m just so excited to have come across these amazing on the set photos of Kate Winslet in costume filming Mildred Pierce! The photos were taken on Manhattan in New York City on April 18 and 19 and see Kate filming a couple of scenes in her Depression era get-up. As a full time vintage enthusiast, I’m happy to say that her costumes look very period accurate; they are just beautiful! How about that blue dress!

Don’t you just love the photo above? It looks almost as if Kate was directing Todd Haynes, instead of the other way around? ;)

Please check out more photos of Mildred’s different looks under the cut.

Oscar-winner Kate Winslet is following in the footsteps of other great actors, including Sir Roger Moore, in urging consumers and retailers to drop foie gras. She narrates this PETA exclusive video revealing undercover investigation footage of the cruelty that is endured by ducks and geese who are abused for this delicacy of despair.

Foie gras, which literally translates to “fatty liver,” is made from the engorged livers of ducks and geese. Kate describes, “To produce foie gras, ducks and geese are force-fed enormous amounts of grain and fat, which causes their livers to swell to many times the normal size.”

When these feeding pipes are jammed into the birds, their throats are often punctured and the birds can suffer from severe tissue damage and internal bleeding.

Help Kate spread the word that foie gras is a recipe for torture and share her video with everyone you know! Share this video on your favorite sites or use the form below to e-mail it to your friends now.

What a delightful surprise! Kate Winslet, Julianne Moore, Meryl Streep, Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Watts and Penélope Cruz grace the cover of the May 2010 issue of Vogue Paris. The modern day screen legends are wearing (RED) clothing, designed to eliminate AIDS in Africa, on the cover of the French magazine. Penélope Cruz has guest-edited this issue. The magazine should be available on my local stands shortly and I shall soon provide high quality scans of the spread, which is sure to be nothing short of fantastic!

Vogue cover girl and Oscar winner Kate Winslet is lending her support to a campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) – appealing to some of Britain’s top chefs to banish foie gras from their menus.

“Foie gras is sold as an expensive delicacy in some restaurants and shops. But no one pays a higher price for foie gras than the ducks and geese who are abused and killed to make it,” Winslet tells today’s Daily Telegraph.

The actress has narrated a video featuring footage Peta claims was filmed undercover on a foie gras farm – in which geese and ducks are shown to be in cramped and apparently filthy conditions.

Urging consumers to boycott foie gras in restaurants, Winslet described the production of it as being a “terrifying and painful” experience for the ducks and geese.
